Troubleshooting

If BedrockConnect is not working, try the following:

Joining the Featured Servers still directs to the actual servers and not the serverlist...

If this happens, try the following:

  • Make sure you are not connecting to "CubeCraft" in order to enter the serverlist. The redirection for this server was recently removed from the DNS, so you will need to try connecting to one of the other featured servers in order to connect.
  • Check if your current connected network still has the DNS settings set to the BedrockConnect IP
  • Check if the DNS is 100% correct
  • Try reloading the featured server list a couple of times, as Minecraft itself can glitch when trying to load the featured server list. In Minecraft, hit B until your back to the main screen, then go back to servers. This will reload the featured servers tab.
  • Restart your game console
  • You might have IPv6 enabled on your network, which can cause issues on Xbox and possibly other game consoles, as they don't support custom IPv6 DNS's to be set. You have two options:
    • Disable IPv6 on your router, if possible. Here's a tutorial by jbob3mm that shows how to disable this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FhBEI55__s
    • Set the DNS directly in your router settings, using 2001:19f0:4009:4126:5400:00ff:fe22:0d52 as the primary, and 2001:4860:4860::8888 as the secondary (or any other popular DNS that supports IPv6 for the secondary)
  • Your network might be blocking the DNS. In which case, you can try setting the DNS directly in your router's settings. Where to set this would depend on what brand of router you have. (e.g. Netgear, TP-Link, etc) You can try googling "[your router brand here] router how to set dns in router settings"

Alternately, you can also join through the "Add Friend" method to connect the main BedrockConnect instance

If you're still having issues, you can try one of the other hosted BedrockConnect instances: https://github.com/Pugmatt/BedrockConnect#publicly-available-bedrockconnect-instances

If on Xbox/PS4/PS5, you can also join BedrockConnect through a LAN connection. This can be setup by doing the following:

  • On PC, Mac, or Linux, download this JAR: https://github.com/Pugmatt/BedrockConnect/releases
  • Make sure Java 8 or higher is installed.
  • In command prompt or terminal, run the following command: java -jar BedrockConnect-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar nodb=true
  • Make sure the computer running the BedrockConnect JAR is on the same network as your game console
  • When in Minecraft on the game console, go to the "Friends" tab, and the server-list server should be showing under LAN servers and available to join.

It shows "Coming Soon" in the servers tab

This is a Minecraft game bug, usually on the Switch version.

You can try the following to fix it:

  • Signing out of your Microsoft account ingame, and signing back in.
  • You can also try reloading the "Servers" tab by hitting B (when in the "Servers" tab) until you're back to the main screen, then go back to servers, and try that a couple of times until it hopefully works.
  • Restarting the game

The internet on my console is not working at all now...

If the internet on the device appears to not be connecting at all, try changing your secondary DNS to another public DNS, such as one of the following:

  • 1.1.1.1
  • 1.0.0.1
  • 8.8.4.4
  • 8.8.8.8

I'm able to get on the BedrockConnect serverlist, but retrieving a "Can't connect to world"/"Unable to connect to world" when joining a server

  • Check if the server you're trying to join is on Java Edition. If so, you will need Geyser/GeyserConnect to join that server: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_oPHl5gz_c
  • Check if the server you're trying to connect to is actually online or port forwarded correctly.

I'm having connection issues on PS4/PS5

The main DNS 104.238.130.180 seems to have trouble on PS4/PS5, most likely due to heavy traffic. In this case, you can try connecting to one of the other serverlist servers hosted by the community: https://github.com/Pugmatt/BedrockConnect#publicly-available-bedrockconnect-instances

Alternately, you can also join through the "Add Friend" method instead of the DNS method.

I can't start BedrockConnect on a Linux server that is also running the official Minecraft Bedrock Server

For BedrockConnect to work correctly with any consoles, it needs to run on the default UDP/IP ports of the Bedrock Server, which are 19132 for IPv4 and 19133 for IPv6.

Since around August 2019 (Server version 1.14.32.1), the Minecraft Bedrock Server software opens these ports, even though the server.properties file configures different ports.

This conflict prevents either Server (Bedrock Server or BedrockConnect) that is started later to not work at all.

This is not an error of BedrockConnect but from the Minecraft Bedrock Server, that is bug-tracked at Mojang's Jira. Watch that issue to get updates on what happens there.

While this bug is unresolved, there is NO way to run BedrockConnect on any server that has an actively running instance of the Minecraft Bedrock Server.

Will I get banned for using this tool?

This is an unofficial tool used to bypass an unsupported feature on Microsoft/Mojang's end. Use this tool at your own risk. Hundreds of thousands of players have used this service, and there haven't been any reported scenarios about anyone getting banned or systems getting bricked. That being said, nothing is guaranteed about what companies are going to do in the future, and we don't have this kind of knowledge. So use at your own risk and own discretion.

I'm having lag issues or getting disconnected when on or trying to connect to the BedrockConnect serverlist

If you're experiencing lag, or getting disconnected from the server often, the BedrockConnect serverlist server might be under heavy traffic at the time or is having trouble because of your location. In this case, you can try connecting to one of the other serverlist servers hosted by the community: https://github.com/Pugmatt/BedrockConnect#publicly-available-bedrockconnect-instances

If you're still experiencing issues, you can try hosting a local instance of BedrockConnect:

PC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AW5X7-qnvLk

Android (PS4/PS5/Xbox Only): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ND_VFaAXC8M

iPhone (PS4/PS5/Xbox Only): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2X_hhrsSAk

When on a beta/preview version of Minecraft, I cannot connect.

Beta and Preview versions are currently not supported. The library BedrockConnect uses for protocol does not actively support beta versions, as these versions are prone to change quickly before the Protocol code can be updated. To ensure things stay stable, we only release updates for release versions.

I'm having issues on the Hive connecting to other regions

You may notice that when joining the Hive through BedrockConnect, it will connect you to a server region of the Hive that is not your own. Unfortunately, we can't do anything really about it initially connecting to the different region, due to how the connection to the server works for featured servers on BedrockConnect (Grabs the IP address from the featured server's IP domain on the BedrockConnect host server's end) But, there are solutions to connect to the other regions:

  • (Only available on some BedrockConnect DNS instances) When in the Hive hub, closely behind where you spawn you should see a "Region Selector". From here you can select the region you want to connect to
    • If you would like to have the above solution working on your self-hosted instance, please follow this guide from the wiki
  • Or, while on the BedrockConnect serverlist, you can add the specific region version of the Hive to your server list. The following should work as of writing this:
    • hivebedrock.us (U.S.)
    • sg.hivebedrock.network (Asia)
    • fr.hivebedrock.network (Europe)
