This project aims on providing personalised user interfaces in smart home environments. URC4ESH stands for Universal Remote Console for Eclipse Smart Home. The Universal Remote Console (ISO/IEC 24752) is an existing approach to provide exchangable and personalised user interfaces to typical smart home devices. The Goal is to Transfer the ideas of the Universal Remote Console to the Eclipse Smart Home project. Typical use cases are:
- A device in a smart home (e.g., a TV set) is exchanged against a new one. Althoug the new device is not the identical model (maybe even different vendor), the user wants to continue to use his familliar user interface.
- A user moves from his main residence to his holiday home. Although he has there a different TV set than at home he still wants to use the same user interface.
- Due to an accident or the aging process a user is no more able to use the standard interface of a smart home device. Instead of exchanging the whole device only the user interface is exchanged.
- A simplified user interface is provieded for some users like kids or guests, so that they can controll only those for them relevant functions.
