Mac 68K Version

This is the Mac 68K version - all older versions stay the same.

The TimePilot68K.bin is what I FTP to my Centris 650 (The client strips the .bin and then it is the Game ready to run) and the Time.Pilot68K.dsk is the disk image Retro68 made.

The gs versions have _gs in them (1 & 2 are floppy images but the game needs to be played from an HD - it loads the audio on disk 2; V1.6.po is a GSOS bootabe image where Time Pilot auto-starts)

The Windows and CX16 versions are easy to spot :)

Apple IIgs end game no High Score bug fix

This is in essence the same version as V1.5 but:

  • I introduced a bad bug in V1.5 which resulted in the game not ending properly if the player failed to set a score that would get the player on to the High Score table.
  • While fixing the above bug, I noticed I had also, at some point, broken the ability to skip waiting for the GAME OVER screen, after 1 second. Until now, the player had to wait the full 3 seconds before they could continue.

The Windows and Commander X16 builds remain unchanghed.

Time Pilot v1.5
Changes for v1.5 to the Apple IIgs version:

  • Scores are now saved and loaded
  • If you press ESC to stop a game, you are eligible to saving your high score
  • External RAM sounds are now at 22kHz
  • The enemy explosion bug is fixed
  • A loader with splash screen was added
  • The AutoKey rate is adjusted (and reset on exit)

The floppies (timepilot[1|2]_v1.5.po) are not bootable and the game can't really be run from floppy. They are only included so they can be used to copy the game to a mass storage device. The 1,600K timepilot_v1.5.po is a bootable image of the game, good for emulators.

Windows and CX16 versions are unchanged.

Apple IIgs audio and bomber fixes

This release fixes issues on the Apple IIgs only:

  1. The audio (especially the player shooting) would sometimes get corrupted.
  2. I noticed that the 1940s bomber would draw wrong when clipped at the top of the screen, so that's also fixed.

The other versions remain unchanged.

Apple IIgs now with Sound!

This release updates the Apple IIgs version to have Sound. The audio code was supplied by Brutal Deluxe Software (Antoine Vignau). At this stage it's not perfect - I am getting some sound corruption. I think I know how it is happening but I wanted to get the release out since I may not be able to work on this for a little while.

Apple IIgs Version

This version adds the Apple IIgs version (No icon, no audio).

timepilot.2mg - a self booting GS/OS hard-disk image that auto-runs Time Pilot on boot.
timepilot.po - an 800K floppy image that only contains the TIME.PILOT S16 image.

I have updated timepilot.2mg and timepilot.po with a version that also accepts ENTER as a fire button, since Option + Space on macOS (in Kegs at least) will open the spotlight search box, so that's no good. Now ENTER hopefully gets around the issue.

I have also patched a bug that occured when yor score was replacing the last score on the high score table, it would show the old score for that slot, but take your initials. Thanks Bill M for finding (And letting me know I updated these files with my debug version to find the highscore bug!). ENTER is now an alternate FIRE button, also to accept a letter in the HIGH SCORE table.

PCM Audio for CX16

Commander X16 release only

This release adds pcm audio playback to the CX16 version. It's more or less the same audio that is used in the PC version. The samples were shortened in many cases. That is because only one sample can be played at a time. I therefor came up with a priority system where higher priority sounds will "play over" (or bump) lower priority sounds, and lower priority sounds will simply not play if a higher priority sound is already playing. This is not a great solution, but it's better than nothing and I have to admit that I am quite surprised by the fact that it works at all, never mind being somewhat okay. Hopefully, at some point, this can get replaced by a proper sound and sound effects system.

Other versions

The Windows/Linux/macOS versions remain unchanged and is added here again just for convenience.
