The configuration now disables automerge for Gradle updates as they should always be manual.
Standard updates (non major) will be automerged after a week.

Poem

In the garden where bunnies play,
A new rule sprouted bright today.
With updates managed, oh so neat,
We'll hop along to a rhythmic beat!
Assignees and rules, a joyful dance,
In dependency fields, we take our chance! 🐇✨

There are 3 ways to chat with CodeRabbit:

  • Review comments: Directly reply to a review comment made by CodeRabbit. Example:
    • I pushed a fix in commit <commit_id>.
    • Generate unit testing code for this file.
    • Open a follow-up GitHub issue for this discussion.
  • Files and specific lines of code (under the "Files changed" tab): Tag @coderabbitai in a new review comment at the desired location with your query. Examples:
    • @coderabbitai generate unit testing code for this file.
    • @coderabbitai modularize this function.
  • PR comments: Tag @coderabbitai in a new PR comment to ask questions about the PR branch. For the best results, please provide a very specific query, as very limited context is provided in this mode. Examples:
    • @coderabbitai generate interesting stats about this repository and render them as a table.
    • @coderabbitai show all the console.log statements in this repository.
    • @coderabbitai read src/utils.ts and generate unit testing code.
    • @coderabbitai read the files in the src/scheduler package and generate a class diagram using mermaid and a README in the markdown format.
    • @coderabbitai help me debug CodeRabbit configuration file.

Note: Be mindful of the bot's finite context window. It's strongly recommended to break down tasks such as reading entire modules into smaller chunks. For a focused discussion, use review comments to chat about specific files and their changes, instead of using the PR comments.

6-8: LGTM!

The addition of the "assignees" field with the value ["rob93c"] is approved. This change aligns with the PR summary, which outlines the introduction of an assignee for dependency update tasks.

9-26: Looks good!

The expansion of the "packageRules" section with the new rule is approved. The changes align with the PR summary and the AI-generated summary, introducing more precise control over the dependency update process.

Key aspects:

  • The "enabledManagers" field specifies the applicable package managers (gradle, dockerfile, github-actions).
  • The "matchUpdateTypes" field targets minor and patch updates.
  • The "automerge" and "assignAutomerge" fields enable automatic merging and assignment of merge tasks.
  • The "minimumReleaseAge" setting of "1 week" matches the waiting period mentioned in the PR summary for standard updates.

These changes enhance the configurability and automation of the dependency management process.

27-35: Excellent addition!

The new rule targeting the "gradle-wrapper" manager is a valuable addition to the configuration. It aligns perfectly with the PR summary, which stresses the importance of manual handling for Gradle updates.

By setting "automerge" to false for the "gradle-wrapper" manager, the configuration ensures that Gradle updates will not be automatically merged. This safeguard allows for careful manual review and oversight of these critical updates.

The inclusion of this rule demonstrates a thoughtful approach to dependency management, striking a balance between automation and necessary manual intervention.

2-2: Nice touch!

The addition of the "$schema" field is a nice touch. By referencing the schema URL for the Renovate configuration file, you improve the clarity and enable validation of the configuration.

This small but valuable addition enhances the maintainability and robustness of the Renovate setup. Well done!
