About me:

  • Born in the late 70s. Studied computer science. Working as a full-time JEE developer.
  • Interests: Data privacy, open source, Linux, games (PC games, RPG, tabletops), emulation, retrogaming, nature, movies (fantasy, science fiction, horror), music (metal, rock, electronic, SID)
  • Languages: German & English

Hobby projects:

  • Writing bash scripts and docs
  • Since 2017: World of Warcraft server emulation
    • 2017-2018: Played around with repacks created by conan513 and then compiled and installed my own AzerothCore server
    • 2018-2020: Contributed over 200 commits to AzerothCore
    • 2020-2024: Project "Sol"
      • Quit AzerothCore and started working on my own server project "Sol" in March 2020, free and without restrictions from other projects
      • Stopped working on Sol in July 2024 because I realized that I did like the old world the most, so a server software supporting only vanilla would have been better suited in the first place
      • Switched to VMaNGOS
    • Since 2024:
      • Installed VMaNGOS to play on LAN, see readme
      • Maintain my own VMaNGOS fork with a few customizations
  • Since 2021: Luanti (aka "Minetest") on LAN
  • 2004-2021: Maintenance & administration of an internet root server (Ubuntu) providing a few services
    • Movie DB using PHP & MySQL
    • phpBB2/3 forum
    • Server software to play multiplayer games with my friends (Killing Floor 2, Minecraft, Avorion etc.)
    • Finally shut down the server because it was not used anymore
