Hello, this is the first official release for Simple Table.
This small project has been first delayed then on halt until few week ago, when I managed to get the time to study and finally felt proficient enough to start our cnc tool in our workshop.
The original idea was quite simple : build a table out of a single piece of wood (e.g. plywood) wasting as less material as possible and using the least numbers of cuts.
Due to limits to the cnc table, the protype is 25% smaller than ordinary size but

Costs - Time :

Prototype was built out of a 18mm phenolic plywood birch sheet, 750 x 950 mm; worth 70€ with current inflated birch prizes here in italy.
Milling time with a 6 mm bit and 800 mm/m feed rate was about 1 h 10 min.

Fixes and Adds:

  • Tolerances between joints have been reworked and are now much more generous, in order to accomodate an easier assembly (no tools like chisels needed anyomore)
  • There was a missing joint between the legs in the dxf files, now fixed.
  • Dxf and stl files added to the download section. ready for cam softwares.

Next release (V1.0)

-Pdf and instructions to print a template for traditional cut/milling.

Future iterations

This project was born as a joke, a simple idea on how to build a table managing an economy of material and cuts, as such, I can see it already completed with this iteration.
Anyway, being simple means also this is a perfect neutral start in order to develop it further, chasing a variety of goals and ideas.
I've sketched many iterations, among which at least two or three are interesting enough to bring into a prototype phase,
I'll publish them as forks before the end of summer.
