How to remove a page from the menu

Removing a page from the navigation menu prevents users from accessing it through the site’s menu. However, the page will still be accessible via direct URL unless its status is changed or it is deleted.

Follow these steps to remove a page from the navigation menu:

  1. Access the Dashboard
  • Log in to the WordPress Dashboard of your website.
  1. Navigate to Menus
  • In the left-hand menu, go to Appearance > Menus.

  1. Select the Menu
  • Under the Edit Menus tab, choose the menu that contains the page you want to remove.
  • Click the down arrow next to the menu item to expand the settings.

  1. Remove the Menu Item
  • Click the Remove link to remove the page from the menu.
  • Click Save Menu to apply the changes.

How to change page status

If you want to hide a page from your live website without deleting it, you can change its status. Follow these steps to change page status

  1. Access the Dashboard
  • Log in to the WordPress Dashboard.
  1. Navigate to Pages
  • In the left-hand menu, go to Pages > All Pages.

  1. Find the Page
  • Locate the page in the list or use the search function to find it.

  1. Quick Edit the Page
  • Hover over the page and click 'Quick Edit' from the submenu.

  1. Change the Status
  • Use the Status dropdown menu to choose one of the following options:
    • Draft: The page is not published and is only visible to admins and editors.
    • Pending Review: The page is awaiting review before publishing.

Alternative method: Change status in page editor

  1. Open the page in the editor.
  2. In the Page tab on the right, locate the Status section.

  3. Click the current status and select a new status from the pop-up menu.

  4. Click Save to apply the changes.

How to delete a page

If the page is no longer needed, you can delete it permanently. However, before deleting a page, you should remove it from the menu (see "How to Remove a Page from the Menu"). Follow these steps to delete a page

  1. Find the Page
  • Refer to "How to Change Page Status" to locate the page.
  1. Move to Bin
  • Hover over the page and click "Bin".

  • The page will now be moved to the Trash folder.
  1. Restore or Permanently Delete
  • Go to the Bin.
  • Find the deleted page and choose one of the following actions:
    • Click Restore to recover the page.
    • Click Delete Permanently to remove the page forever.

Bulk actions: Deleting multiple pages

If you need to delete multiple pages at once, follow these steps:

  1. Select Multiple Pages
  • In Pages > All Pages, check the boxes next to the pages you want to delete.
  1. Apply Bulk Action
  • Click the Bulk Actions dropdown menu.
  • Select Move to Trash, then click Apply.
  • The selected pages will be moved to the bin.
