Thanks for the PR @tellthemachines! I think it's okay to have this specific css for the block, but we should also add the aligncenter css too. Also I'm wondering if we have more blocks like this, with an extra wrapper. I don't think we have, but not 100% sure.

Cool idea!
It looks like this also appears to affect the display of the placeholder state. With this PR applied, featured image blocks that have an image appear to be displaying correctly in their left / right positions to me, but not in their placeholder state:

We don't have any other core blocks with intermediate wrappers between the element with layout classes and the child blocks, except for the Nav block but that's already being handled. There's also a special case for the Group block in classic themes but that has its own logic too. I think for these cases we really need to handle them one by one 😄

It's not possible to set width or aspect ratio globally yet; if we do enable that we can always further reduce the specificity here. Or would it be worth wrapping the whole selector in a :where?
Good question, this is testing nicely for me in its current form, with and without setting a width on the featured image block at the individual block level. I think I'd probably lean slightly toward keeping it at the specificity you've gone with, especially since the block already has other width: 100% rules that are higher specificity (for the img in particular). But I don't feel strongly about it if you think it'd be better to lower it further.

What?
Fixes #54805.
Left/right alignment doesn't work as expected for direct children of the Post Template block due to its unique markup structure. Given the problem is specific to this block, I think it makes sense to add some styles that fix it for this block only.
