This is the repository for the in-progress book introducing map making in R using African data. A first version is planned for mid 2021. It is part of the afrimapr project.

For those that are working on the book there is a contribution guide, template chapter and code of conduct.
While working on the book we came across different coding challenges and issues. We gathered some of them together with the solutions in Troubleshooting file to share the experience with others who also may encounter them at some point when working with maps or geospatial data in R.
Please raise any questions or suggestions as a github issue in the repository. If you'd like help with that just ask.
We welcome contributions, and will make avenues for contribution clearer soon.
