I've been thinking a lot about whether Carmel should just stick to debates, or if it would make sense to merge Lighthouse into it. Or perhaps keeping Lighthouse as a standalone subproject, as it is now, is the best way to go. What I really feel though, is that both of these projects could benefit from a shared core framework and then become specialized pipelines on top of it. Even the name is giving me pause. But enough about what I think. I want to hear from you. What are your thoughts on all of this?

After reading (didn't know you were committing "what is lighthouse?", I see your idea more similar to a debate platform but with better conditions to include material for your arguments. Both platforms differ in the goal no?

You've nailed it: Carmel is for private, structured debates while Lighthouse is an open platform for discussing complex topics. Their core similarities could allow mutual enhancements, yet their goals and environments differ. Lighthouse's rules are indeed more flexible, which can be adjusted as needed. Can the curators list be updated from time to time or is a permanent position? Also the contributors can agree on removing any of them in case it's required for whichever the reason is (absence, lack of opinion, not efficient enough, biased on opinions, etc)?

Inspired by Jae's linked statements, we could create a Git-like setup where non-curators can fork and rebase.
I'm open to changing curators, provided the original team gets a fair chance to finish their task.

In relation to the topics, which is your PoV of how Lighthouse deals with the topics? Similar to reddit in the sense of separating the topics but in the same world (not able to define if website or realm or any other product) so others can use other topics are resources or completely independent in different spheres so you can't mix them?

Carmel is designed to frame trusted debates, while Lighthouse is intended to provide trusted, uncensored responses to intricate questions, similar to a credible Wikipedia.
With Carmel and Lighthouse's emphasis on open-source inspired, scientifically informed statements, we aim to create a rich network of linked statements with metadata, going beyond specific debates or topics.
Imagine git for statements.

Here is why I ask. When you mean "related topics" you mean topics that are subtopics of the bigger one like in the splitting or can be even non-related in the same big topic? Because obviously this can help to increase the fan of options to provide sources.

Establishing intricate/enriched statement relationships allows us to utilize known facts and focus on unraveling the unknown, effectively handling complex projects.
