EcoWaste is an application that helps people live sustainably. The following high-level goals encompass the application’s mission:
- Teach people how to properly dispose of their items and reduce waste
- Help people find locations to properly dispose of their items
- Manage waste pick-ups and drop-offs
This is a server rendered web application with NextJS and AWS Amplify. We use AWS Amplify to generate code and to manage and consume the AWS cloud resources needed for our app. The NextJS app has dynamic and static routes to demonstrate how to load data on the server based on the incoming request.
Three routes are implemented :
-
/
: A server-rendered route that usesgetServersideProps
to load data from AppSync and renders it on the server (Code in pages/index.tsx) -
/sign-in
: A static route that uses Amazon Cognito to authenticate and authorize users. (Code in pages/sign-in/index.tsx) -
/item/[id]
: A dynamic sroute that usesgetStaticPaths
,getStaticProps
and the id from the provided context to load a single item from AppSync and render it on the server. (Code in pages/item/[id].tsx)
If you've never used amplify before
- Sign up for an AWS account
- Install the AWS Amplify cli:
npm install -g @aws-amplify/cli
- Configure the Amplify cli
amplify configure
