Using The Printer Camera

Note: This page refers to upcoming features in the v1.1 version of Adventurer Client and may not be available in your installed version.

Overview

If your printer has a camera in it, Adventurer Client can show you a live feed of your print, allowing you to check on your status. On the Flashforge Adventurer 3 and Monoprice Voxel the camera is located on the right-hand side of the build area.

Viewing the Camera Feed

To view the camera feed in Adventurer Client, connect to you printer as normal then on camera row of the status page click “view feed”. This will show a live feed of the camera. This is shown at the framerate that the printer sends and is typically 2-3 frames per second. The camera installed in the printers is quite low resolution, so may not be very clear, but should be enough to validate ethe print is still okay

To stop viewing the video, return to the status page using the top menu bar.

This feature was introduced in the v1.1 update of the app, if you don’t see the Camera row on the status page, you may need to update your installed app from the releases page or Windows Store.

Enabling the Camera on the Printer

The internal construction of the printer means that it cannot use the USB port and the camera at the same time, this means that if the USB port is active Adventurer Client will be unable to show the camera feed.

To modify when the camera is available, on the printer go to Tools > Setting [sic] > Camera, where you can choose one of three modes:

  • Auto Mode: The printer will automatically switch from USB to camera mode while printing. The camera feed can be viewed in the app while printing.
  • Manual Mode – Camera: The camera will always be available and can be viewed the app, but the USB port cannot be used.
  • Manual Mode – USB: The camera cannot be used and will show “Not available” in the app, but the USB port can be used.

“Not available” or “Lost connection to printer camera”

If the printer is set to USB mode, or set to Auto mode while not printing, the status page will show “Not available” under the camera row. If you’re viewing the camera feed and the print finishes while in Auto mode, you will see a "lost connection to printer camera" message.

To change how the printer manages the camera, see the above section. If you believe you are seeing the message in error, please open an issue.
