Welcome to the AreaPrinter wiki! The AreaPrinter is a tool for creating continuous "hiking navigation"-quality maps of an area. It is a plugin for QGIS and is installable through qgis' official repository (experimental).

AreaPrinter usage:

  1. Create a project in QGIS, and add the layers you want. Set the project to your preferred WGS84 / UTM projection.
  2. Click plugins > AreaPrinter > AreaPrinter.
  3. when asked, specify correct CSR (same as project)
  4. The rectangles that appear show the extent of an A4 page. use the buttons to add rectangles, move rectangles, remove rectangles and generate a print composer.
  5. The generated print composer has the selected map areas laid out nicely, with 1km Grid and coordinates.

Note: *Developed and tested on QGIS 2.18 / Ubuntugis, but should work on win and mac as well. *QGIS's pdf export feature has an issue with stretching the image about 1-2 mm across the A4 (personal experience). Use a pdf printer (foxit) to circumvent this or verify using a ruler that the distance between grid lines are exactly 1km.
