Transitive runfiles for macos_application

How do you include all data from transitive dependencies in a macos_application.

cc_library(
    name = "myLibWithData",
    data = ["path/to/some.data"],
)

macos_application(
    name = "myApp",
    deps = [":myLibWithData",],
    # resources = [ ":myLibWithData" ],
)

I was expecting a file structure like so:

myApp.app
/Contents
 /Resources
  /_main
   /external
    /myLibWithData
     /path
      /to
       some.data

The document above suggests to use apple_resource_group and structured_resources.
I could add an apple_resource_group for every cc_library I include, but it feels like the data[] and other runfiles (like dylib dependencies) for the cc_library should be automatically added to the bundle. Is there another way to accomplish this?

Essentially I want to convert my cc_binary that has all of the runfiles set up correctly to a macos_application. What is the correct way to go about this?
