Backup bucket lifecycle policy - deleting old backups?

Hi, I am evaluating Litestream for a production use case. I am looking to use it to back up an application cache. The cache will contain a limited amount of data. For my purposes, I actually really need to restore the most recent version of the backup snapshot. I don't really need to keep around old backups.

My question is–can I set up a cloud storage bucket with a lifecycle policy to, say, delete files older than a week? Is Litestream OK with old files suddenly missing from the cloud storage?

The second step is retention enforcement. This periodically runs and removes any snapshots older than the retention time as well as remove any WAL files older than the oldest snapshot. By default, this the retention time is 24 hours. Litestream will always ensure there is at least one snapshot retained.

This two-step process allows for more use cases such as snapshotting every day but retaining snapshots for a week.
