This is an experimental theme developed for the Ghost blogging platform. One thing to get out of the way is that this theme is targeted towards stretching the express purpose of the platforms design. It's understood that the platforms purpose is that of publishing, not of website construction.
But it's an experiment...so we shall see if it's a success or complete failure.
