trying out some customizations from https://squidfunk.github.io/mkdocs-material/setup/setting-up-the-footer

this allows us to:

  • subtly add links to GitHub, Twitter, Google (discussion group)
  • add our copyright (cc by 4.0), including a link
  • remove some html code that was customizing the footer previously
