Debug text cross platform consistency?

Hi,
I have been playing with BGFX and came upon the debug text utility. I want to use it in my application for not just debugging and was wondering if the text is consistent across platforms. I read that the number of chars varies on different hardware, if so, is there a way to query that char size? I use GLFW

i'd use imgui as alternative, but this text has a nice style
