The primary reason for another for is because I can. I don't really need another reason. feels good man.
The goals of this fork, other than personal satisfaction of dabbling in the code, are as follows.
- Automated builds for popular desktop platforms (at least Linux, Win64, and Win32... I'll add MacOS is someone volunteers to test and verify).
- Automated unit testing to increase confidence in changes and reduce bugs.
- Increase the mod-ability so non-programmers can have their wayward will.
- Update and extend content. Where is Antifa, BLM, and Trump? The opioid crisis, the religious right, global warming fanatics and deniers, indigenous resurgence, Harvey Weinstein, chemtrails, anti-vaxxers, mobile phones and social media? What about the new crises next year?
With the automated builds producing installation packages, an additional goal of distribution through channels is not unreachable. Places like itch.io and similar, where a game can be distributed for free to non-technical players.
I'm not sure if, after enough changes to gameplay and content, I should change the name of the game. I certainly have no intention of hiding the origins or history of the project or make any claim over the other most excellent forks of the original that are available out there.
You know, I'd really like to replace the fixed curses interface with (a) an adaptive curses interface and/or (2) a non-curses (2D) graphical interface. Content and gameplay come first, though.
