GS1 DataMatrix does not require a GTIN #259
-
From doc (gs1datamatrix), it is written "The data field ... starting with the mandatory (01) Application Identifier". Maybe I'm wrong, English is not my native language, but from what I read in the GS1 doc nothing obliges to start with 01 and to contain GTIN in datamatrix or other GS1 symbology, even if it is often examples given. What is mandatory is to start with . You can define your product by a serial number, by a SSCC (unique package identifier) or even by other things at the agreement of the 2 parts (provider and customer). So it is a pity to put check (like presence of 01+GTIN) that limits the use of datamatrix or other GS1 code. Would it be possible to have an option for raising this obligation? |

Mandatory AI (01) for GS1 DataMatrix and AIs (01)+(8200) for GS1 QR Code are legacy constraints that haven't been enforced by BWIPP for some time. I've realigned the documentation. Thanks. |
