Experiment #3 : Verify that receiver can improve network jitter problems using the jitter buffer.

Results and recommendations

  • Using jitter buffer is a right approach. The buffer size is the configurable value so that we need to optimize appropriate jitter buffer size of the receiver to resist network jitter by testing under real network environment where the system is will be used.

Objective

  • Using the jitter detection method, the system reorder out of buffers received within the jitter buffer and play the buffers at constant rate so that call quality can be maintained.

Status

Concluded

Expected outcomes

  • Appropriate jitter buffer size of the receiver to resist network jitter

Resource required

  • Make some changes for creating jitter buffer and test it.

Experiment description

  1. Make some jitter on network.
  2. Check if the receiver can detect the jitter.
  3. Observe receiver’s behavior for one minute as the buffer size changes.

Duration

  • 1W
