Formbot bed is too thick for the Stealth Nut Block #16
Comments
The nut block is part of Kirigami_V0.2_stealth_chain_release.f3d. The CAD calls a bed thikness of 2.0 mm and a 20 mm gap. The nut is designed at 2.20mm. What are the measurements on the FormBot kit? LDO kit is a hair's breath below spec. |
The thickness when measured from top to bottom is 2.5mm. The thickness when measured in the middle is 2.3mm. So there is a bit of a bow, but even if it were flat it would be too thick. If it were flat and had no powder coat, it'd probably be right on the money. |
Ultimately this is an issue of Formbot not producing spec parts and I can only design for parts I have at hand - Formbot never sent me their bed for feedback like LDO did. I am somewhat hesitant to make more variants as the current part count is already confusing people. |
I edited the slot to make it a bit wider which is fine for my purposes. It seems like a long term solution would be to redesign the nut block to be more tolerant of variance in thickness as opposed to making more variants of the part. edit: we could not make it line up. We’re going to try to get formbot to send a good one. |
@christophmuellerorg Can I send you one of their bed frames? You can possibly make any changes to printed parts or have disclaimers specifically about the bed? I posted another issue about the thermal fuse. LMK Thanks |
FWIW, Formbot sent us modified STLs which also did not work. We ended up just buying the LDO bed for $25 and it works perfectly.

Hello, FYI this is stil the case, just got a kit and the bed is 2.2mm (+/- 0.05) thick. |
We are building the V0.2 kit from FormBot, which comes with a kirigami bed. The Stealth Nut Block part will not fit, even before installing heat set inserts. It may be due to the thickness of the powder coat. I would like to edit that part to make it a little roomier, but I am not seeing the CAD file.
