Centre For Islamic Studies (ISAM) acts with the vision of being a participatory research center that produces, manages, and provides reliable, sustainable, healthy and original information about the Islamic religion, civilization and societies. Within this framework, ISAM, which has experience in more than one publication type, has attached importance to the proof of the academic information produced and has worked on its methods. Since the beginning of the publication of the TDV Encyclopedia of Islam in 1983, the methods of referencing have been examined and a citation and referencing format specific to the encyclopedia has been produced. The citation and referencing format produced has continued to be used by being updated in certain periods and publication types. These formats, together with their additional volumes, are used in encyclopedic works such as the TDV Encyclopedia of Islam, which is 46 volumes in total, the Fundamental Encyclopedia of Islam, which is 8 volumes, and the Great History of Istanbul from Antiquity to the 21st Century, which is 10 volumes; It has been used in more than 250 books published in Turkish, Arabic and other foreign languages from different genres such as monography, compilation, edition critics, facsimile edition, etc. that have gone through serious editing and refereeing processes; in the Journal of Ottoman Studies, which has been published twice a year since 1980 (within the body of ISAM since the 35th issue) and has reached its 62nd issue; and in the Journal of Islamic Studies, which has been published twice a year since 1997 and has reached its 51st issue.

ISAM Citation Style is a study in which the accumulation of ISAM's knowledge is reshaped, interpreted and new standards are produced according to the special needs of ISAM, taking into account the standards of international systems developed to prove knowledge in academic texts. Two styles have been produced: footnoted and in-text citation styles. It is prepared according to the needs of ISAM and researchers in Türkiye firstly, can be used in all academic studies and publications in the fields of humanities, theology and social sciences.
