Now that the CNI slack has been in use for ~7 months it's no longer necessary to have it as a top-level banner headline. It should be in CONTRIBUTING.md, though, with the other project contact channels. Signed-off-by: toby cabot <toby@caboteria.org>

Hi, here are a couple of tweaks to the README that make it a little easier to follow for first-timers.
