CP url (/admin) returning a 404 on production

Hey Guys,

Quick question. Been building a new website, which works like a charm locally, however, as soon as I pull the repo to the production environment, the /admin (or index.php?p=admin for that matter) url returns a (nginx) 404 while the homepage returns the proper layout.

.env file has the CRAFT_CP_TRIGGER=admin variable and all aliases seem to work just fine. As mentioned, on my local environment this all works just fine.

.htaccess looks as follows:

One thing that I noticed is that the web/cpresources folder is completely empty.

Any clues on where to start looking?

I see you mentioned the 404 comes from Nginx but then mentioned you're using .htaccess which is used for Apache.

Could you double check what server you're using?

If your site is running on Nginx then you'll want to setup a conf file (not .htacces, you may need to reach out to your host depending on how flexible they are), here are a couple samples:
