Pre-application for CVAT internship

We are looking for interns to participate in Google Summer of Code (GSoC) to help improve the Computer Vision Annotation Tool (CVAT).

How the GSoC Process Works

We hope that CVAT.ai organization will be selected for Google Summer of Code. That is the first step in the process.

Next, we have to submit a list of projects we want to get funding for. Based on our application Google will approve funding for a few projects. There is no guarantee that we will get funding for all the projects.

How to Apply for CVAT.ai Internship

Here are the steps you need to follow to apply as an intern for GSoC 2024.

  1. Go through the list of projects we are currently considering.
  2. Join our Google group to talk to mentors.
  3. Share your resume and other details (cvat-gsoc-2024@cvat.ai). Please note that this is NOT a formal application. You have to apply directly to GSoC (see step below).
  4. We will be selecting candidates based on their performance in a real practical task. Before we can consider your proposal for a project from the list provided here: https://github.com/opencv/cvat/wiki/GSoC-2024#cvat-project-ideas-list, you need to make a small contribution to CVAT.
  5. The mentors will review your application material and may reach out to you via email. They may also request a video interview. Based on your application and interview, the mentors may encourage you to apply formally to GSoC. However, just because a mentor likes your application does not guarantee you will get a place. On the other hand, it is very unlikely you will get through if the mentor decides your application is not strong enough.
  6. Read GSoC application process for students and Apply directly to GSoC. Check the deadlines at the site.
