Not replacing your search engine

Daniel Aleksandersen edited this page Oct 18, 2017 · 2 revisions

Some users have expressed interest and even submitted code changes to have EdgeDeflector replace Bing search in the Windows shell with Google or a customization search engine.

EdgeDeflector has no other agenda than to restore the user’s choice of web browser in Windows 10. All it does is stopping links from being force-opened in Microsoft Edge, and opens them in your default web browser instead.

Users search provider preference is best served in their web browser of choice. If you wish to redirect searches in Bing to DuckDuckGo or Google Search, you may do so using an extension for your web browser of choice. Several extensions exist that can be configured to redirect from one domain to another, or specifically to redirect searches on Bing to Google. These extensions will supplement EdgeDeflector nicely.

You can download the latest version of EdgeDeflector from the Releases page. You may also be interested in radialapps’s fork (unsupported).
