Digital Craftsman (Python Developer / ideas-to-life-bringer)

Hi everyone 🤙,
thanks for taking the time to check out my profile! 👀
I am a software developer with some 6+ years of experience. ✍️
My favourite language is Python 🐍, but I'm not afraid to put my hands on any other tool, as long as it helps me to get where I want to be.
I am at my best when I can leverage my knowledge of backend development technologies and frameworks to build reliable and scalable software. Showcasing my customers (clients, boss 👨‍💼) how I helped them is the cherry on top of my day. 🍒
Btw, I also really fancy open source. 👌

📊 Projects I'm most proud of

Formula1 Betting Competition 🏎️ 🏆

An application that I developed for myself and my friends. We enjoy watching F1, so we created a little betting competition.
As a platform for recording and evaluating our guesses, I created a Django application.
Here it is: https://formula1-dashboard.herokuapp.com/dash/

It is a Django-based application with an extension of Dash (https://dash.plotly.com/). This allows the resulting dashboard to display interactive graphs, tables etc. Even though the combination of Django and Dash isn't seen often at all, I loved it, as it allowed me to build a presentable app without being held back by my lack of deep front-end knowledge.

Even though it is just a small application I've developed in my spare time, I am glad to have done it since I've learned a lot of new (and refreshed the old) and interesting information regarding requests, app deployment, design patterns, typing, just to name a few.

Zipf law in Slovak language 💹 🇸🇰

Zipf law is a well-known statistical law 📈, that grabbed my attention because of how counter-intuitive it is. 🤔
Here, go check this video from Vsauce, where he explains it very well ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCn8zs912OE&ab_channel=Vsauce

Anyway, I tried to look up some research about its occurence in my native language (Slovak), but only found very limited results - only one published article, and they counted words manually! That is when my curiosity took a hold of me and I've set myself to find out if there could be a better way to explore this weirdness in Slovak. And there was! Not only that, but I found a solution that can be used for many more languages! Check out my project to find out more about how I tackled this challenge using Python! ➡️ https://github.com/deniskristak/zipf-law-in-slovak-language
