Duplicate transaction ids are not checked by the sandbox classic post-commit validation. That one only validates:
- Contract key usage (all new keys have to be unique, all used keys have to exist)
- Party usage (all uses parties have to be allocated)
- Causal monotonicity (all uses contracts have to exist and have a LET before the current transaction)
Duplicate transaction ids were previously caught by a unique index in the database schema. The new schema allows you to insert duplicate transaction ids.
In sandbox classic, the transaction id is always equal to the offset, which is generated by the PersistenceQueueOwner, which I just realized doesn't have any unit test.
