Yamaha XG?

The doc is talking about "Yamaha XG" support, but is there a real XG thing to enable, or is it only thought a dedicated soundfont? I've tried a few xg soundfonts but it's quite far from a real XG hardware or even software emulation such as the s-yxg50 vst or the mu50 emulation in mame.

Am I missing something?

MAME has released builds with MU-50 emulation within the past year. Consider this an official feature request, an MU-50 mode for MT32PI would be amazing, even if it required a PI 5!

I've built the latest MAME with MU-50 (yeah I'm in my XG mood at the moment), and while it works rather ok (and it's still much better than the existing XG soundfonts), it's far from sounding as good as the S-YXG50 VSTi... : some instruments are a bit different (less sustain...), and there are some crackles.
