What would you like to do?

When folks share location with me, I want to view it in something like Google Maps or Apple Maps so I can do stuff like search for nearby locations, ask directions for how to get to the location, etc. Instead, I have no way to actually access the location data itself short of View Source on the event(!).

As a first cut, exposing the geo URI would be better than nothing - or providing some "open in..." links on the expanded map viewer.

I wanted to open it in openstreetmap today.
perhaps show the coordinates ?

Antoher use case would be opening it in a routing program like magic earth

Support for a fallback representation if no tile server is configured is requested in #21082.

Location tiles in the timeline have an 'Open in OpenStreetMap' option in the context menu, which links to openstreetmap.org

In the expanded map view current live locations can be opened in OpenStreetMap and copied as lat/lon -41.2254208,174.9057536 from the list
