Messages in a newly answered chat come in as pushes rather than in the timeline, despite viewing the timeline

Steps to reproduce

1. Get invited to a room
2. Tap on the push
3. Get taken to the invites room, which hasn't synced yet. Wait for a few seconds for it to sync.
4. Accept the invite
5. Speak in the room
6. Messages from the other person in the room come in as push notifs at the top of the screen, and don't appear in the timeline (until a few seconds later, as on slow connectivity)
7. Rageshake
8. On reentering the room, the msgs no longer appear spuriously as pushes.

Outcome

What did you expect?

If i have a timeline open, i should never receive the messages for that timeline as push.

What happened instead?

Spurious push.
