ESOC 2018 FAQ
We will go through your application in detail. Your contributions seen on your github profile will be plus. Well drafted project description and application is also a plus.
Can one more app / project other than the ones here be proposed?
We started with focusing on few projects. We will not promise that the project will be added immediately for this summer. You can email us if you are passionate about your proposal. We'll read your emails and keep in touch with you.
Right now, we have decided to do mobile apps only.
The apps have to be designed mainly using ionic. It's okay if you don't know the framework. It's mainly js, HTML and css. We are looking for candidates that are self-driven and eager to learn. Moreover we will be looking at your profile and your proposal.
FrappeJS is used to currently develop Frappe Accounting. There are plans (PRs) to build it into a web app framework as well. You can go through the FrappeJS and Frappe Accounting repositories and PR(s) to understand how it works and what is planned. If you share any of your Ionic (or FrappeJS) apps it'll be plus for your application!
Do we need to make a Web View using FrappeJS and Ionic and need to incorporate in Android App as a Web View? (Technical details of Projects)
Ionic is a framework which is to be used to build cross-platform mobile apps. Components from FrappeJS are to be used as required.
The field has been dropped to avoid confusion.
As long as you are eager to learn about FOSS and contribute, do apply! We will read all applications seriously.
All the applications are different ionic applications
Single vendor. Each app will be used for one company. That’s the idea for now.
There are no positions for mentors as of now. This is only open for students right now.
