[Token Bridging] Deploying custom token on Optimism chain and bridging it with ERC20 token deployed on L1

Hello, I currently have an ERC20 token deployed on L1 Ethereum Mainnet, I would like to deploy a custom token on Optimism and bridge the two tokens, is there a documentation for this?

Can you clarify what you mean by custom token. We have https://static.optimism.io/ which has instructions on adding tokens to the standard bridge, but this only supports standard ERC20 tokens. There is a link in that document with a tutorial on how to deploy tokens.

I may be a little confused, but I just bridged a token onto Arbitrum using their generic-custom gateway and I wanted a similar expected behavior for bridging to Optimism.
Basically, what I did on Arbitrum was:

1. Deployed token on L1.
2. Deploy L2 token smart contract (with custom functionality like Pause, where I can pause the L2 smart contract without affecting L1).
3. Register L1 and L2 as token pair with the gateway contract to make them bridgeable.

I saw the docs for Optimism and there was a standard bridge, which I am unsure if it fits my use case above because for Arbitrum standard bridge, an L2 smart contract was automatically generated which did not have the custom functionality I needed for my token on L2.

your L2 token should implement IOptimismMintableERC20, you can follow the example of https://github.com/ethereum-optimism/optimism/blob/develop/packages/contracts-bedrock/src/universal/OptimismMintableERC20.sol
