Some clean up & additions to doc changes in #1474

Minor formatting, spelling, grammar
Add links that were missing in the TOC list at top of page
Dup. the xrefs in the 5x API doc that were added to the 4x doc

NOTE: When making these edits, I also fixed some glaring little things (spelling, etc) in unrelated sections in the Security Best Practices doc.
