Add DEV Community's express tag to community page #950
Conversation
Looking around it looks pretty neat. I don't see a reason not to add it. Any thoughts from others? /cc @wesleytodd |
Seems good. I think adding it to docs does lend it some level of credibility, so we need to be careful, but at first glance it seems like good content. Before we merge I would like to explore the site more, but it certainly looks like an active community. |
Exactly. I took a look around, but figured someone else may want to look around as well at the content :) It basically feels like a mix between Stackoverflow and a collaborative blogging platform. |
hey guys, this has been added to the many major websites like : |
I signed up and will look around! As for the content about express, there is a bit of stale content, but nothing looks like it would lead people in the wrong direction. I wouldn't be opposed to including this, and making it a go-to place for good tutorials and content. I think it would be interesting if people posted #help style posts, and maybe we could push people to that along side stack overflow posts? |
@wesleytodd I don't think there's link for #help and #express both, but when people use dev.to they can ask for help with the tag help and other topics as tags too as you've seen, like express here. I think including the express tag for now would be the best thing. |
I think it's a good reference to add somewhere on the site, I'm just not sure that "Community" is the right place, since the other resources listed on the page are more closely aligned with the project. I notice Node.js site added it under "Learning" and not "Community Discussion". Perhaps we could add a new "Learning resources" heading on the page and put it there... I could see adding Stack Overflow, etc. later. Alternatively, it could go on the "Books & blogs" site, since most of the content I could see was blog-like. I did see some comments, but it seems less like a discussion forum and more like a blog (and aggregator)... That's my first impression anyway. Modulo the above, @belhassen07 I have a small tweak to request: In the heading, capitalize "DEV" (as you did in the link). This should clarify that it's a specific site and not the "developer community" in general. Obvious perhaps, but still. I'm not adamantly opposed to it being on the "Community" page, but just my $0.02. |
@crandmck I think these are all great points! It is geared more toward learning, and I think any of your suggestions would be good, although I think book & blogs is the most accurate fit. |

i went ahead and addressed the review comments to land it: fixed caps and moved to learning area.
DEV Community is a burgeoning source of guidance and discussion on software topics, especially web dev. This will be a useful link to point to the official place to discuss Express matters on the platform.
