could have saved the position and restored that, but what about if window has been resized. the options for that get weird.

Add an image gallery.
The tooltip when hovering over an image shows the filename, size, date it was added, and an indication of if the image is used in other wiki in the farm.
Clicking on the image will give a full window view.
