Next Screen not working #160
Comments
I'm not sure if I understand - there is a ShiftIt action that moves a window from one screen to another (one display to another). It does not involve any click-holding. It is simply ctrl+opt+cmd+n |
I just updated to 1.6.2, and the Next-Screen option is disabled in the menu. Clicking Ctrl-Command-Alt-N no longer moves the window to my other monitor. I'm not sure this is what the OP has in mind, here, though. Based on his description, I can click and drag a window with my mouse, then press Ctrl+1, Ctrl+2, etc to switch virtual desktops, and it will move the window to the new desktop as it switches. This doesn't seem to be a function of ShiftIt, though, as OS X does when ShiftIt is not running. |
The function I use the most is no longer working, it appears disabled in the menu "NEXT SCREEN" also seems like Zoom is also disabled - https://www.dropbox.com/s/lh4anjk62z0v3qb/Screenshot%202015-04-27%2011.58.15.png?dl=0 |
Hi, what keithjgrant and rickyA4D is describing is what I'm facing. I can click and drag windows from screen to screen but the command itself doesn't work. However, in my shifit menu the options are not greyed out. |
I'm sorry for that, looking into it right now. |
@fikovnik thank you so much for taking the time to update this program! This is one of the few programs I tell people is a must have. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I've rolled back to 1.6.1 and the options are back and available - https://www.dropbox.com/s/mue0nziqor7w135/Screenshot%202015-04-27%2012.35.51.png?dl=0 I can test your fixes if you need some QA. |
There seemed to be wrong settings which prevented to make a stable release (cf. #160)
I'm going to roll a new release. |
@rickyA4D - thanks for encouraging words! this was a stupid mistake I did and only proves the need to some basic automated smoke test before a release is done. I hope now it works. I checked it on a clean installation and the upgrade from 1.6.2 to 1.6.3 works and the actions are all back. |
Interesting, it works for me. So the following does not work, right? https://github.com/fikovnik/ShiftIt/releases/download/version-1.6.3/ShiftIt-1.6.3.zip |
Yup, clean install to 1.6.3 and still not working but everything else works great. On Mac OS X 10.10.3 |
If you have a bit of a time, could you try the following:

@fikovnik moving to next screen works for me here is the log - 2015-04-28 10:00:11.818 ShiftIt[1629/0x7fff783bc300] [lvl=1] -[ShiftItAppDelegate handleActionsStateChangeRequest_:] Resuming actions |
FWIW, 1.6.3 fixed the bug for me as well. Thanks for the quick turnaround! |
Here are my logs:

Interesting, why is one of the ShiftIt variable missing an "f"??? Based on the logs and comparing it with @rickyA4D I'm surmising maybe the the new window geometry isn't right? |
I think I figured this out. Chalk it up as user error. I had thought shift it to next screen would move it from desktop to desktop, which isn't the case. However on my multimonitor setup I can shift window from monitor to monitor, so that's working as intended :] |
On 10.10.3
Used ShiftIt for a long time and been doing the trick of click-holding a window then Ctrl+1 or Ctrl+2 to switch screens then dropping the window. Discovered that ShiftIt has this function but when I tried it nothing happens. Any insights?
