Update copyright year and directory structure

In this PR, the following changes have been made:

• updating the copyright year (2023-2024 --> 2023-2025)
• renaming directories
  • test --> tests
  • tool --> tools
  • docs/examples --> examples
  • docs/mkdocs/docs --> docs/docs
• reorganizing example code files for documentation while changing the filename conventions
• moving project documentation files (e.g., CONTRIBUTING.md) to the .github directory
