Handling band subsetting in stars_proxy objects worked differently in older versions of stars. Adding support for this should solve the CRAN check error on r-oldrel-macos-x86_64, for which CRAN does not offer stars >= 0.6-0 (due to a CRAN check error in stars). This error was reproduced, then solved in florisvdh#16.
This reverts commit 3e97c33.
