Disable <esc> as trigger

I have this keybinding to disable highlights:

f.noremap("n", "<esc><esc>", ":nohlsearch<cr>", "remove highlighting", opts)

When hitting esc it triggers wk with the above binding. Tried a few things to disable it but short of disabling triggers for "n" completely I can't figure it out.

It might be related to this issue but thought I would post here first just in case I'm a moron:
