MapStore Contributor License Agreement (CLA) (THIS IS A WIP)

1. Definitions

  • “You” refers to the individual or entity submitting a contribution to the MapStore project.
  • “Contribution” means any code, documentation, or other work submitted to the MapStore project by You.
  • “MapStore” refers to the open-source project maintained by GeoSolutions SRL

2. Grant of License

By submitting a contribution to the MapStore project, You hereby grant to GeoSolutions SRL and the MapStore project a:

  • Perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable license to use, reproduce, modify, create derivative works, publicly display, publicly perform, distribute, and sublicense Your contribution.

This license applies to the project in all current and future versions, in both source and object code forms, and in any medium.

3. Representations and Warranties

By making a contribution, You represent that:

  • The contribution is an original work created by You, or You have sufficient rights to submit it under this agreement.
  • Your contribution does not violate any applicable laws or infringe on any third-party intellectual property rights.
  • If your contribution includes or is based on work owned by a third party, You have secured appropriate licenses or permissions to contribute it to the MapStore project.

4. Ownership of Contributions

You retain ownership of the intellectual property rights in Your contributions. This CLA does not transfer any ownership from You to GeoSolutions SRL or the MapStore project. However, by submitting a contribution, You grant the licenses set forth in Section 2 to GeoSolutions SRL and the MapStore project.

5. Contribution Requirements

  • Code Quality: Contributions must follow the coding guidelines and standards defined by the MapStore project.
  • Documentation: Contributions should include appropriate documentation where applicable, including any usage instructions or explanations of new features.
  • Testing: You agree to include any necessary tests to ensure the functionality of Your contribution, following MapStore’s testing guidelines.

6. No Obligation to Use

GeoSolutions SRL and the MapStore project are under no obligation to use or incorporate any contribution submitted by You. Contributions may be rejected or modified by the maintainers based on project needs.

7. Contribution Process

Before Your contribution can be merged into the project, You must:

  • Review and sign this Contributor License Agreement.
  • Follow the standard contribution guidelines outlined in the MapStore Contribution Guide.

8. Governing Law

This agreement is governed by and construed under the laws of the jurisdiction in which GeoSolutions SRL is registered, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.

9. Termination

The rights granted to GeoSolutions SRL and the MapStore project under this CLA are irrevocable. However, if You withdraw or modify a submission before it is incorporated into the project, GeoSolutions may choose not to use that contribution.

By submitting a contribution to the MapStore project, You indicate your acceptance of these terms.
