Steps to complete the activity

Step 1: Register for Hacktoberfest

Create a Hacktoberfest account by connecting with your GitHub profile at

Step 2: Choose a Repository

Explore the Hacktoberfest event repository at

This is where you can make your contributions.

Step 3: Fork and Clone the Repository

Fork the repository to create a personal copy in your GitHub account. Clone your forked repository to your local machine using the command:

Step 4: Create a new branch. To do this, run the following command

git checkout -b <your_branch_name>

Replace <branch_name> with the name of the branch that you want to create.

Step 5: Make your changes. Open the files that you want to edit and make your changes

Step 6: Add and Commit Changes

Step 8: Get Your PR Merged

Once your PR is accepted and merged into the project, you've successfully contributed to Hacktoberfest.

Step 9: Track Your Progress

Track your contributions and progress on the Hacktoberfest website by connecting your GitHub account.

Step 10: Engage in Discussions

Participate in discussions and share your experiences in the Hacktoberfest community on GitHub and social media.

Step 11: Celebrate Your Success

After completing four contributions, you'll be eligible to plant a tree.
