Step by Step Guide? #78
-
Hey - I'm so sorry to ask noobie question here. Is there a step by step guide for this one? I know there are notes on the home page, but I'm running this cluster and I don't want to mess it up. I just migrated from VMWare to Proxmox and my cluster is running everything from personal data, to our firewall :). Thanks |

Hey Kyle (@computerfreek), thanks for your request and no worries. Currently, there's only the quick-start guide at https://github.com/gyptazy/ProxLB?tab=readme-ov-file#quick-start - and yes, it's really that simple. If you're missing there anything, please let me know to enhance the docs. However, I honestly suggest you to test this first in a test/dev cluster to get familiar how it works, when it rebalances etc. before installing it directly on a prod cluster. You should also ensure that everything in the underlying base infrastructure works - like live migration across the nodes in general - nothing would be more painful than seeing this failing while trying to migrate the firewall and everything stops ;) Cheers, |

Let me just ask this really quick - I'm not very good with docker containers. Haven't messed with them yet - should I just run this in a vm for example and install docker? Ubuntu + Docker + The Quick Start portion of the guide? Thanks for your thoughts :) Kyle |

See now I feel like an idiot. That is what happens when your running on zero hours of sleep. I didn't notice you had a deb file. I don't need docker... Derp! Thank you for your help! |

Hey @computerfreek, no worries! For a quick test I would have suggested to run it in a small LXC Container in Proxmox, based on a Debian container image and to run the ready to use .deb file. just one addition, the repository still serves the 1.0.2 file (for a grace period before distributing the new package) while you can already grab from the cdn the 1.0.3 package. When starting new to PrpxLB it makes sense to start directly with the newer 1.0.3. Have a nice evening! |
