Team meeting 04/26/22

  • Joseph joined the team meeting, after a hiatus since Sept 2021.
  • Updated Joseph on the current status of the project.
  • Carrie presented slide deck- The state of ballot drop box voting in 2022, Academic Literature Published Work: Current state of voting via ballot drop off #486
    • Question raised by Drew re: for states that are limiting drop boxes, what exactly are the restrictions? (ex: in Ohio, they are limiting to 1 per county and if there is a ballot from another county, they are not obligated to forward it through.
    • Carrie observed that there is no real direct competitor to BallotNav.
    • She also added to the spreadsheet a space for organizations that had board of directors
  • Zuri gave a brief update, and will present next week, Competitive Analysis: Direct and Indirect Competitors #487
  • Federica briefed on her slide deck on methodologies, will present next week, Research Methodologies #488
    • She will connect with Zuri and Jon to add their research to the slides
    • Asked about feedback on the index for anyone to suggest anything else she should include.
  • Stacey raised questions for Ongoing Website Support Capability for BallotNav.org #489
    • A regular ongoing team of developers will be needed for a website: how can HfLA support this effort long term?
    • Question about whether we can develop something that relies on volunteers to maintain: will another organization view this as viable and be willing to partner with us, or will a finished product be expected?
    • Need further investigation into what an open source software used by local or state government would look like?

For next week:

  • Zuri- continue filling in competitive analysis spreadsheet, prepare to present at next meeting
  • Jon- continue filling in partnership spreadsheet, prepare to present at next meeting
  • Federica- continue work on methodology slide deck, prepare to present next week
  • Stacey- finish project documents, expand on tasks for Ongoing Website Support Capability for BallotNav.org #489

Team meeting agenda and notes 06/07/22

Items to discuss:

  • Slide Deck= Voting Orgs groupings and Personas
  • Narrow down target audience
  • Review questions Layne developed
  • Review process of recruiting test users
    • How to contact
    • How to conduct interviews
    • How to share insight

Notes from meeting

  • Target audience will focus on the larger nationwide orgs that have voter issues as their main objective. Ex: Black Voters Matter, League of Women Voters.

    • In focusing on large orgs, we hope to get a better sense of the broad concerns of voters, as opposed to focusing on a regional org.
    • If we connect with an org that has chapters and gives us info that may pertain to a regional concern, we will have other chapters to compare the data to.
  • First approach: Posting on Reddit

    • Looking for people who work for any national voting org
    • Will need to draft a survey to ask questions to prequalify respondents
      • Will use Google Forms: Name, Email/ Phone (what do they prefer), Org that they volunteer/ work for, their role in org.
      • Form will feed into info a Sheet where we can then add the data we collect from the interviews.
    • Will need to set up a calendly account to schedule interviews.
    • Will need to create a template to collect feedback from the interviews.
    • Add availability in comments to Issue Document product-market fit approach #490
  • Layne to continue working on getting access to BallotNav website backend via issue Backend Knowledge Transfer for Ballot Nav - Touch base with Drew #482

  • Issue Collecting Customer Data (Customer Outreach, Calendly and Customer feedback)  #492 created and assigned to Layne

  • Issue Qualifying survey for potential interviewees (Google Forms) #493 created and assigned to Stacey
