Which AdBlocker/DNS cloud service do you use?

ControlD

Other

No response

ControlD users

  • IMPORTANT - I assure that I have not set the Block Response in ControlD to Custom or Branded and can confirm that the problem still occurs.

NextDNS users

  • IMPORTANT - I can assure that I disabled the block page in NextDNS and can confirm that the problem still occurs.

With which block list(s) does the problem occur?

Multi ULTIMATE

Which domain(s) should be unblocked?

frontier-i18n.tiktokv.com
gecko16-normal-useast2a.tiktokv.com
gecko31-normal-useast2a.tiktokv.com
mcs-ie.tiktokw.eu
mon-i18n.tiktokv.com
mssdk16-normal-useast2a.tiktokv.com
pitaya-i18n.tiktokv.com

Why should the domain(s) be unblocked?

Blocking these breaks Tiktok in all kinds of ways. Videos don't load, comments don't load etc.

Privacy

What would you say if I can't reproduce this and have never had problems with TikTok and the Ultimate?

TikTok is the absolute plague, we have tried 100 times to find out exactly which domains are causing problems in certain regions. So far without much success. It runs for a while and then at some point nothing works anymore. It helps if you unblock tiktokv.com completely for a short time. Then you can block it again for a while.

There are several issues on this topic here.

I believe you that there are problems, but I don't think that all these domains are necessary. I can unblock them, but it won't be long before you come up with others.

Thanks, I have never been able to reproduce this, it would be great if we could find out exactly what is causing the problems for some people.

I have never had any problems either with Ultimate and tiktok . Started having issues today so I figured some of these have been just now added to the list and now unintentionally blocks tiktok.

If this is not the case then it's probably somehow related to europe countries or something🤔

I will look into this more tomorrow when I have some spare time.

These are the TikTok native trackers that are included in Ultimate, last update 06-11-2024:

Thanks for your help Leevi.

I have found the issue!

I started using yokoffing's Potentially Malicious IPs folder in Controld and I found that this blocked a few tiktok domains because the domains were from India.
This probably caused Tiktok to search for the content from other domains that were then blocked by Ultimate.
Then these domains showed up as blocked by Ultimate which is why I reported the issue here.

Bypassing India from the folder fixed the issue. Though it did take a while for it to start working normally...

Maybe @yokoffing could but a warning about this in his Controld setup guide.

No need to allow previously mentioned domains @hagezi

Thank you Hagezi for the help as always!

@user716253 Using geo custom rules are a brute force way to lockdown your network. This is expected. However, I have added warnings to the guide now. Thank you for letting me know!
