Victron Smart Battery Sense
Smart Battery Sense is a wireless battery voltage and temperature sensor for Victron MPPT Solar Chargers.
The connection between Smart Battery Sense and one or more Solar Charger(s) is wireless: It uses VE.Smart Network (Bluetooth). Information transmitted can be used simultaneously by one, two or more Solar Chargers. The battery voltage value from “Smart Battery Sense” replaces the voltage value measured internally by the MPPT.
Since DTU FW “2024.02.19”, if there is an existing VE.Direkt connection, the MPPT battery voltage values are used to detect the switch-off and switch-on thresholds if a better battery voltage value (BMS) is not available.
That means: With a “Smart Battery Sense” you automatically get the battery voltage from the battery poles via the MPPT into the DTU.
This has the following advantages for controlling the inverter:
- More precise switching-off of the inverter when the switch-off threshold is undershot.
- More precise switching-on of the inverter when the switch-on threshold is exceeded.
ATTENTION: After putting the “Smart Battery Sense” into operation, the load correction factor must be adjusted.
