Since this is an open source project, ideally we can avoid the explicit selling here. We don't do this in other blog posts and I don't think we should start.

we make other mentions of Voltron Data - should we remove those too?

Hey @prmoore77 thanks for the blog post! I understand you put a lot of effort into it and I think it's a great post. I don't think the Ibis blog is the right place for this content. The bulk of the content doesn't involve Ibis, and that's okay! The way I read this post is with my engineer hat on, as if I were building a service for end users, not as an end user of said service which is where our blog posts tend to target. There's nothing in the future that says we couldn't have content like this, but I think at the moment this content is targeting a different audience. Would the Arrow blog be a good place for this content? I am happy to help facilitate that if so. It would be good to get input from others on this. cc @ncclementi @gforsyth @kszucs @jcrist @lostmygithubaccount |
HI @cpcloud - good feedback. I'll check with the team if a site like Medium.com makes more sense for this. I'll close the PR. |
Description of changes
This PR adds a blog post detailing an example Arrow Flight RPC server powered by Ibis for data retrieval (instead of SQL).
