You can push to master to see changes of the web site, but a local tool install in ubuntu for much faster work (and work off the master branch):
# Ubuntu 18.04 desktop
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt install -y emacs git cmake openssh-server
sudo apt install -y ruby-full build-essential zlib1g-dev
if ! grep GEM_HOME ~/.bashrc
then
echo '# Install Ruby Gems to ~/gems' >> ~/.bashrc
echo 'export GEM_HOME="$HOME/gems"' >> ~/.bashrc
echo 'export PATH="$HOME/gems/bin:$PATH"' >> ~/.bashrc
source ~/.bashrc
fi
sudo gem update --system
gem install jekyll bundler
cd ~/projects # whereever you keep your projects
