The project objective is to utilize UniRep in conjunction with Git to enable zero-knowledge (zk) proofs of contributions. This integration would enable individuals to provide cryptographic proofs of their contributions to Git repositories while maintaining privacy and preserving data integrity. The purpose is to allow developers to demonstrate their expertise in specific programming languages or problem domains without disclosing any additional personal information.
By leveraging UniRep's data storage capabilities and zk proofs, users can associate their contributions with anonymous identifiers and generate proofs to verify the authenticity and impact of their work. This approach enhances transparency, accountability, and trust in Git-based collaborations while fully respecting the privacy of individual contributors.
Project maintainers, acting as attesters, can issue reputation attestations to developers based on their contributions while respecting their privacy. These attestations can be cryptographically proven by developers, establishing trust and accountability in their work. The system allows attesters to choose whether or not to respect the attestations provided by other attesters. This enables the creation of a network of organizations that mutually acknowledge and honor each other's attestations, fostering collaboration and trust among different entities.
